On March 26, 2008, Nihon Dempa Kogyo Co., Ltd. (NDK) was granted the Japanese version of Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) status by Tokyo Customs, with the Notification Letter of Approval issued on April 10, 2008.

The aim of the Japanese version of AEO is to strengthen security while also enhancing international distribution by simplifying customs clearance. Under this system, the Customs Director grants AEO status to exporters with a proven track record of compliance with the law. This status confers certain benefits in terms of cargo inspection and customs procedures, ensuring that customs clearance is both fast and reliable. This system is also in conformance with World Customs Organization (WCO) guidelines, and the possibility of introducing an international mutual-recognition agreement under which AEO-certified companies would benefit from simplified import procedures in trading partner countries is currently under consideration.
