On Tuesday October 12th, an award ceremony for the “IEC1906 Award” from the International Electrotechnical Commission was held as part of the award ceremony for the “2004 Award for contributors to industrial standardization.” The ceremony was held in the International Conference Room, located on the 8th floor of the Otemachi JA Building. Three employees of Nihon Dempa Kogyo Co., Ltd. were received the IEC1906 awards.

(1) Mitsuaki Koyama (Senior Chief Engineer of Engineering Administrative Office)
- For the development of the measurement of activity and frequency dips of quartz crystal units and text fixture for surface mounted quartz crystal units and revision of outlines.

(2) Junji Takahashi (General Manager of Production Dept.1)
- For the revision of synthetic quartz crystal - Specifications and guide to the use and development of single crystal wafers applied for surface acoustic wave device.

(3) Yasushi Yamamoto (Vice President of NRS Technologies Inc.)
- For the revision and drafting of a series of documents on surface acoustic wave (SAW) filters and surface acoustic wave resonators.
The IEC1906 Award was established this year to commemorate the approaching centennial of IEC in 2006. It is given to individuals who have made considerable contributions to and achievements in the standardization of electric and electronic technologies, and to enhance the benefits of related activities. This year, the award was given to a total of 87 individuals from around the world. Japan had the largest number of awardees. Out of 19 Japanese individuals honored with this award, three are employees of Nihon Dempa Kogyo Co., Ltd.
