A huge earthquake struck Iwate and Miyagi prefectures at 8:43 a.m. on June 14th. The earthquake registered lower 6 on the 7-point Japanese intensity scale in Osaki city, Miyagi prefecture, where our subsidiary of Furukawa NDK is located. Since the city is located relatively near the epicenter (about 40 kilometers away) there was a fear of casualties, but fortunately the employees and their families were not injured.

The factory building was damaged partially, but there was no influence on production. Also, although some production machines were misaligned, they were reinstalled properly on June 14th and 15th, and the factory resumed normal operations.
