NDK Develops the World's First*1 1.6 × 1.2 mm Stratum 3‑Compliant High‑Stability TCXO “NT1612SHC,” which Achieves ±280 ppb at 125°C, Enhancing Reliability for 5G Base Stations and AI Servers
Nihon Dempa Kogyo Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Shibuya Ward, Tokyo; President & CEO: Hiromi Katoh, hereinafter referred to as "NDK") has newly developed the "NT1612SHC," a high-stability TCXO compliant with Stratum 3, measuring 1.6 × 1.2 mm, one of the world's smallest in its class*1, for AI data center equipment and 5G base stations where heat generation is increasing due to rising system power consumption.
The product achieves high frequency stability of ±280 ppb over a wide operating temperature range of -20°C to +125°C, addressing the challenge of maintaining high accuracy under high-temperature conditions, which has been difficult to achieve with conventional small-sized TCXOs.

Sample・Mass Production Schedule
With the widespread adoption of 5G communications and the advancement of data centers, clock systems are required to deliver highly accurate time synchronization and superior reliability. In base stations and network equipment, frequency drift caused by temperature fluctuations can directly affect communication quality, making a stable reference clock over a wide temperature range essential.
Furthermore, as AI processing continues to expand, heat generation inside data centers is increasing year by year, driving the need for oscillators capable of maintaining frequency accuracy even under high-temperature conditions. Against this backdrop, demand is rapidly growing for oscillators that simultaneously achieve high stability, high precision, and miniaturization in high-temperature environments.
Technical Superiority of NT1612SHC
The NT1612SHC simultaneously achieves two characteristics that have been extremely difficult to combine using conventional technologies: high frequency stability under a high-temperature environment of 125°C and one of the world's smallest TCXO package sizes at 1.6 × 1.2 mm.
High-temperature performance and miniaturization are generally conflicting requirements and overcoming this challenge has been considered a significant technical hurdle. By resolving this issue and achieving Stratum 3 class accuracy of ±280 ppb at 125°C, the product contributes to further miniaturization and greater design flexibility in equipment requiring highly precise clock sources.
This performance is supported by our proprietary quartz blank manufactured using advanced photolithography-based precision processing technology. By adopting this technology, we enhance dimensional accuracy and manufacturing reproducibility of the crystal resonator, reducing frequency variations caused by individual differences and ensuring uniform characteristics.
In addition, our proprietary temperature compensation technology and highly reliable manufacturing processes enable stable frequency performance even under high-temperature conditions. As a result, the NT1612SHC contributes to improved output accuracy and jitter stability in clock synthesizers.
The product enables stable clock supply for communication modules, data center equipment, and applications operating in environments subject to significant temperature variations.
