Ultra High Purity Synthetic Quartz Crystal
"N-Grade EX"
Ultra High Purity Synthetic Quartz Crystal

Features

■Ultra High Purity

This is an ultra high purity optical synthetic quartz crystal manufactured using high purity materials with thorough quality control in optimized growing conditions. With the impurity concentration, linear defect density, and inclusion density in crystals minimized to the utmost limit, this is an ultra high purity product graded as top class in all categories of the "JIS C 6704" synthetic quartz crystal quality standard. Due to its extremely high purity, it is possible to bring out the natural characteristics of the quartz crystal to the utmost limit. Effect of maintaining high resistance and high transmittance for high output and short wavelength lasers, low defect generation effects against irradiation, and excellent characteristics as optical components for use in space and in radiation environments, and as high-stability crystal units can be expected from this synthetic quartz crystal.
The grade table for N-Grade EX and standard products (comparison) is shown in Table 1. Compared to standard products, the impurity content is extremely low.
The infrared transmittance characteristics of N-Grade EX are shown in Figure 2. Compared to standard products, there is very little absorption at 3585 cm-1, which indicates the presence of impurity OH groups typical of quartz crystals.

Remark)

  1. 1)Indicates the maximum effective block size. We can process and deliver it to the specified size and thickness. Please specify.
  2. 2)Inclusion density complies with JIS-C 6704. Ⅰa grade is the product with the fewest optical inclusions.
  3. 3)The infrared absorption coefficient a value complies with JIS-C 6704. Standardized by the absorption coefficient of hydroxyl group-OH.
  4. 4)This is an example of quantitative analysis by ICP-MS. We do not guarantee the amount of impurities. It is possible to analyze and attach each gemstone upon request, but in that case an analysis fee will be charged separately.
  5. 5)Artificial quartz has a phase transition temperature of 573 ℃. Please use below this temperature.

■High Transmittance Characteristics

A comparison of transmittance in the vacuum ultraviolet region by quality grade is shown in Figure 3. N-Grade EX maintains high transmittance up to near the absorption edge in the vacuum ultraviolet region.
On the other hand, the lower the quality grade, the lower the transmittance.

■High Laser Resistance

High resistance to long-time irradiation of 193 nm ArF laser is also obtained.
N-Grade EX grade shows almost no decrease in transmittance before and after irradiation (Figure 4).
The transmittance of ordinary products decreases after laser irradiation. It is thought to depend on the amount of impurities in the synthetic quartz (Figure 5).

■Radiation Resistance

Even when irradiated with gamma rays, our high-purity artificial quartz keeps energy absorption low due to defects.
In other words, it is expected that excellent characteristics will be obtained even in the space environment.
Please try it as a window material for cameras and devices used in space and radiation environments.

Precautions for Use

Make sure to read the following carefully before using synthetic quartz crystals:
Crystal quartz changes from α crystal to β quartz crystal at a temperature of 573℃ because of phase transition. This phase transition is reversible, but transition from β quartz crystal to α crystal does not take plase homogeneously, and twins are created. Therefore, careful attention must be paid to never allow the temperature to rise above 573℃.
